Q: Dear Mattman, Why do you always recommend sleep as the solution to every problem? Sleep is not a cure for cancer. People who sleep great probably get sick too. ~A close personal friend
A: Whooaaaaa buddy! Whoever sent me this one is “tired” of hearingme give advice! The answer is simple. To me, sleep is medicine. It’s actually a part of every prescription. Here is what your doctor will never say to you: “Ok (insert your name here), I am prescribing you a medicine to take twice daily. Be sure to stay up until 2AM tonight or later anddrink alcohol and caffeine all day. After about two or three hours, wake up and you will be ready for your first dose.”
Ladies and gentlemen, what you have just read is a brand new sentence. That has never been said before! I guess you are right. Sleep is not going to cure cancer or undo a chronic disease you may suffer from already. However, it is one of the most important things you can do to PREVENT worse things from happening. When you go to sleep, your body enters an elevated anabolic state which is building you up. You need all the help you can get in today’s world. Your immune system is only as strong as the sleep you got last night.
Your cells need nutrition and energy to make high quality copies of themselves during your elevated anabolic state. And your brain requires REM sleep at night or you will go mad. If you don’t get REM sleep for a long period of time, it will turn on while you are awake and you will go mad. The function of sleep to our brains is astounding. If you believe you sleep great, then you are as good as you get. However, if you believe you can always sleep better, then you will begin to realize that perhaps there is always room to improve.
Better quality sleep increases the quality of your awake. If you are interested in beginning the journey of becoming a Sleep Superhero, text me at 704-498-4451. I’m your personal Superhero Sleep Coach! Sleep like a superhero so you can be awake like one!
