Wait, let me de-superhero. struggles with taking off the uniform
Alright. Chowdy folks, it’s me, Andy Schlesser. I’m my normal self today.
I would usually tell you what thing about sleep or which bad guy we are fighting this week right about now, however, today I’m taking a minute to speak as a normal human being.
As time has gone on, I have come to a conclusion that I personally wanted to share with you. Being a Sleep Superhero is being a real superhero.
Most, if not all, of the superhero stories, are based on humans like us becoming supernatural beings and gaining supernatural powers. Wouldn’t it be awesome to command lightning and thunder like Thor or heat your morning cup of coffee with laser beams shooting out of your eyes like Superman?
Or the technology of Batman with bat hooks that catch corners on every surface? Or Tony Stark with a near-endless energy supply and mechanical suits that rarely malfunction?
Many people dream of those abilities and tools being their own and how that could change their lives. But the reality is that almost all of those things are science fiction. To become a replica of those superheroes is impossible.
We don’t have telekinesis, we can’t freeze water just by reaching out a hand, we can’t metamorph into animals or green beasts when we are angry, and our strength and size is limited by laws of physics in our universe in this timeline.
However, there is one loophole to being a superhero, and I found it.
The one type of superhero you can be and gain all of the powers that go along with it is a Sleep Superhero.
It’s true! A sleep superhero is a person who plans out their sleep every week and tries to make sure they get 7.5 to 9 hours of sleep a night. And if possible, they sleep between 10 p.m.- 2 a.m. which is considered our goldilocks zone.
A Sleep Superhero has a game plan for their bedtime routine as well as a game plan for their wake-up routine. And a Sleep Superhero is always looking at their habits to figure out ways to maximize their quality of sleep.
The saying goes like this — Sleep like a superhero so you can be awake like one.
The benefits of sleeping like a superhero are tremendous. Your body regenerates, it heals. It moves nutrients to places in need. Your brain washes out waste and connects short-term memories to long-term ones. HGH growth hormone is released and grows your muscles if you’re tearing those fibers. The list goes on.
The downsides are more like, “I have to go to bed on time a lot,” — talk about a first-world problem.
Another downside could be you have to change your habits. You may not want to drink less caffeine and that is your decision. But then you have also chosen not to be a sleep superhero.
I look at habit change as a positive thing myself. If I don’t think I can change my habits, I get motivated to try. And with new habits come new experiences. New learning moments and new relatable stories to share with others.
If you are interested in becoming a real superhero in our universe, text me at 704-706-2436. You too can be a Sleep Superhero.
You don’t need to buy anything or make massive changes right now. Instead, you can focus on changing one thing at a time. Little, little, little, little changes eventually equal big transformations.
And I can’t do this alone. I need an army of Mattmen and Mattwomen to help me fight the things that keep people up at night. An army of Sleep Superheroes to save the world!
