Q: Mattman, do you know what Santa’s sleep habits are? How’s Jolly Ol’ Saint Nick measure up to you?
A: EL OH EL. Well, for starters, I do see Santa from time to time at the Superhero Headquarters. He is there checking in and listening to the stories told by all the superheroes! It turns out Santa told us all that he awards extra NICE points to kids who go to bed on time all year round and even MORE BONUS POINTS if they sleep in their own bed. That’s right, you heard it from me. If you need to reinforce this behavior with your young kids, swing by Sweet Dreams Mattress & Furniture and I’ll tell them myself! Just text me at 704-498-4451 to schedule an appointment. I will suit up! The other thing Santa told us is that he feels more confident delivering toys to children who go to bed early all year and sleep in their own bed. He knows they will be fast asleep while he brings their toys. Kids that stay up late are wild cards. It creates a lot of stress and he says that’s why his beard is white!
Santa Claus has peculiar sleep habits. If he were a normal human being, I would say they are downright terrible. However, he is not just a large older dude with a white beard and a jolly laugh. It is dark at the North Pole year round so he sleeps A LOT! Much like a cat, he can be found snoozing in every chair, nook, and padded surface in his factory. The dude sleeps! He makes some snoring noises from time to time. Shakes the whole factory! Icicles are known to fall from the rooftops and there are warning signs everywhere. I have tried to talk to him on how to prevent a visit from Tyrano-Snore-us Rex but he just laughs and laughs... I also told him about eating sugar right before bed. He, however, has a unique situation where it’s always freezing in his bedroom so his core body temperature stays low differently from you and I here in North Carolina. While I do not recommend eating sugary things before bed, I recognize Santa’s unique situation and grant him a pardon. So get to bed kiddos! Sleep like a superhero and you can be awake like a superhero. And if you do superhero things while you are awake, perhaps you can get invited to Superhero Headquarters and meet Santa, among other superheroes and princesses that hang out there.
